The Attacking Giants end of the final season:People, only when you give up the fight is lost, as long as you insist on fighting, you have not lost
There is no doubt that the core of the topic that the giant wants to discuss is “freedom”. And freedom in the drama characters has different presentation. Take Alan and Armin:Alan’s freedom had always been negative freedom, the worship of absolute power. The robber tried to kill Micas, so I killed the robber first. If giants want to eat men, I will drive them all out; the world hates Pa Island, and I’m going to destroy the world. When Chaotic destroyed the wall, Alan blamed it all on our weakness. If I can become strong, I can have the power to deny all opposites.
The freedom to see the sea is Amin’s view of freedom. When Armin and Alan shared their ideas, Alan felt that Armin was special in a way that he had never been. Compared with Armin’s spiritual pursuits, Alan felt as if he had always been ordinary. So Alan was very envious of Armin. Because of this envy, he took the freedom to go outside the wall and see the sea as his own freedom. But it was never Alan’s will.
So when he discovers that there are people beyond the sea, when he discovers that the world is beyond his own perception, he feels again the self-will to achieve freedom by denying everything. Jain Shan creation here has hinted at two people completely different view of freedom, but also for the end of the two people in the opposition foreshadowed.
If you look back at the beginning of the story, you will find that the seeds of cause and effect were planted at the very beginning. This is exactly where I think the Jain Shan creation is very remarkable. In the series of more than ten years, every plot, every line, every scene is carefully designed, interlocking to the end. After the cry, Alan, who had been all about freedom, was the least free person. Thousands of years of racial hatred, cultural conflict, interest contention, Alan is just a carrier pushed forward by historical inevitability, following the causal chain to complete the process of extinction (war). As a link in the chain, Alan had never had real freedom — freedom of active choice.
Finally, the ending of the story lands on Alan’s dead and reborn gonzo worms, suggesting a repeat of history. Jain Shan Chuang’s ambition for freedom is far greater than we imagine. Freedom cannot be limited to the individual. Freedom is not only the freedom of oneself, but also the freedom of all. As Sartre said, “If people do not emphasize the freedom of others, then a period of time now among their freedom will be immediately destroyed.”
So Jain Shan creation really wants to convey is: only by killing all the absolute power can bring freedom? In the infinite cycle of history, is it possible for human civilization to get rid of necessity and its own limitations and have real freedom to choose? That’s the real purpose of this novel
To draw a conclusion, there is no dispute that the ground Ming can be put on the altar before, but the ending after the ground Ming, there is flaws, but does not let it fall from the altar.
The whole giant can be said to be an allegory of a boy slaying a dragon. So the early Giants, like any such work, are hot-blooded but playful: miserable teenagers bravely set out to slay dragons. Then, the work gets into the really profound theme that dragons are people and people can be dragons. My enemy and I, this is a pair of brothers, in another situation, I will be him, and he will be me. How does the spiral of hatred end? Discrimination, bad governance, slavery, slaughter, how can we pay for thousands of years of evil? No one wants to linger in the forest, but does the forest really have an exit?
As anyone can see, this is a problem for the ages. Therefore, in the end, the young man found that there was no dragon, but the dragon was born in the heart of good and evil, and the heart will never be unified. Even though he and his companions have experienced the same events, the ideal world in their hearts will eventually have different looks. So, now they’re going to start killing each other.
Giant in the Earth before the Ming is a profound work shaped a lot of lively and moving characters, there are many exciting moving scenes, and there are also beautiful feelings. But to the end, I suddenly realized that the Jain Shan creation really have the cold God of creation.
He refuses to add any element of fantasy to the giant, making it clear that this is not a teen comic with heroes and a happy ending. He seemed to be saying: I can’t give any answers to the questions I’m asking. There is no Utopia anywhere. All the characters, driven by their own values, use all their resources to fight. There are ten thousand possible directions for such a battle.
He’s just portraying reality, which is interesting, in such a weird and confusing setting. No gods, no demons, no dragon slayers and dragons, just people and people. All people suffer, struggle and make choices about the future they want because “we have come into this cruel and beautiful world”.
Of course he didn’t handle it well enough, or readers wouldn’t have objected so much. At the beginning he said Alan was a slave to the plot, but in the end everyone became slaves to the fable he was trying to tell.
Giant just finished, I am very confused, no matter how do not understand why it is such a result of the destruction of the world, Jain Shan creation clearly write anti-war write so well, why will let the giant into this? By this year, something had changed in my mind and I suddenly felt that I could understand.
Perhaps for Jain Shan creation, cartoon is never an escape from reality, is not used to express his good wishes. Giants certainly have sympathy for different values, but there are some values on which people may never agree. And he didn’t pick one of them and let it win.
